The Albatros C.III was a general purpose two-seat plane and was a refined version of the successful C.I and C.II models. Improvements in the tail structure made the C.III more agile than its predecessors and it was produced in large numbers.
The Albatros C.III was originally armed with a Parabellum machine gun mounted on a pivot in the rear cockpit. Later versions also had a synchronized machine gun mounted on the fuselage. The C.III was used for reconnaissance, aerial photography, and light bombing.
