The barracks is the headquarters for a small garrison of foot soldiers. Their job is to act as a local police force, protecting villagers from outlaws, as well as to help defend the kingdom from invaders. The walled courtyard provides a place where soldiers can practice and care for their equipment. The raised walkway and gatehouse make the building a miniature fortress in time of need. The building would contain offices and storerooms as well as living quarters for the garrison.
